Tom’s storytelling doesn’t stop at the stage. Alongside six decades of acting, directing, and producing, there’s a running thread of prose — personal essays, memoir pieces, and novels in progress that dig into the same well of memory that fuels the plays and the music.
A handful of personal essays are already out in the world:
- 1960 World Series With Papa — the same story behind the B-Side Stories episode on the Music page.
- My Summer at the Southside Speedway
- In My Life With the Fab Four
- Secret Agent Man
- Classical Deja Vu
Several of these essays share their DNA with the B-Side Stories audio series — the same memories, told first in prose and then again in sound.
On the longer-form side, two novels are in the works: I Am The Walrus — The Younger Years and 27 Club, both still in development. More news on those as they get closer to being ready to share.
Between the essays, the novels, the plays, and the music, the throughline is the same one that’s run through the whole career: everything eventually gets turned into a story.
